so it seems that I batchi-ed myself with the first post. yes, i fixed my 'puter and yes, i reorganized my room. however, i've immediately run into a huge boulder on this new path. well, it's more like a huge rock wall, but i'm trying not to be over dramatic. haha
the first boulder is that after i got my 'puter's two OS's up and running just how i wanted it, i logically decided it was okay to start reinstalling my programs. so i started on the windows side to just put the basic stuff on that i couldn't get on the ubuntu side, at least that i don't know of yet.
for clarification, a lot of times in installation of windows programs you have to reboot your system for the installation to be complete. however, in a dual-boot system, you have a boot up menu that comes up when you start up your puter. and apparently, i found out the hard way, that programs don't like the boot up menu coming up during that last step of installation and will subsequently put your puter into a boot up loop where it just turns on and shuts off, turns on and shuts off. indefinitely.
so to make a long story short (too late, i know) i concluded, with speedostudent's advice, that it was easier to reformat (again) and start all over, than try to figure out how to get it working. so i just spent the past couple of days doing that. windows seems to be running smoothly with most of my programs i need on this side reinstalled. later today i'll attempt to get the ubuntu side up and running, if i have the energy. wish me luck!
another boulder that i'm facing is getting sick. on wednesday i started to feel a little icky, but just brushed it off. i worked all day and worked out hard at the gym, which pro'lly depleted the last of my immune system because while eating dinner afterwards at chodang with justin & jae, i started to get chills. i was really drained and wanted to go home, but decided to go back to the HC lounge cause the hurricane and other coworkers were having drinks there. i had a mandarin screwdriver, hoping the oj would help.
it really didn't because by the time i headed home, i was full-blown sick. stuffy head, runny nose, sniffles, aches, coughing, sore throat and pro'lly a fever if i had a thermometer to take my temperature. lol stopped by longs for cold medicine and safeway for oj. got home, took the nyquil, drank some more oj, and immediately passed out.
ive spent the past two days drugged up and sleepy trying to get better. i missed therapy yesterday cause i forgot what day it was and i had to opt out of going to the beach today too. missed a day of work, which i didn't mind as much since shellman needed the extra hours. it just sucks having to care for urself when ur sick. and for a go-getter like me, resting so much is frustrating. esp since i'm actually home to take care of stuff, but have no energy to do anything but sleep.
on the brighter side, i've been finally able to watch some dvds that i've meant to watch. the blind side (a friend lemme borrow it before it came out and i finally watched it. it was better than i expected!), apocalypto (mel gibson's epic about the mayans. little let down but not but not thoroughly disappointed), the illusionist (with edward norton. pretty good, esp with the twist at the end). and finally stardust (good movie. seen it before, but just checking the used dvd that i bought). so all-in-all it hasn't been a total waste of time.
as a final note for this blog entry, in japanese culture, it is believed that bad luck comes in threes. being that these two things happened, i'm tempted to think that a third one is lingering out there waiting to befall me. seeing as i've just been home and sleeping, there hasn't been much opportunity for it to happen. maybe it won't. who knows? lol but for now i think i'll just go back to rest since my brain isn't capable to come up with a witty ending. be well.
